Snails in Tropical fish tank

Adding Aquarium Snails to your Tank Ramshorn & Trumpet

When you buy freshwater snails or fish on ebay please do the following, let bag float for at least 15-20min in your tank than open the bag and put a small amount 25% of the amount of water in your bag let sit another 15-20min add a little more water let sit again for 15-20min, than release. Snails will sometimes appear dead, but they will take time to acclamate and come out and say hi, a little algae wafer may help some. With Shipping fish do the same as snails. The Blue water will not hurt your tank it is a "bag buddy" it help put oxygen into the water for safer travel. I found using "Bag Buddies" on snails is bad, everytime I have used it on my snails I had DOAs Snails can handle shipping rather nicely. I have not had any DOAs in my many shipment of snails. Ramshorn and Trumpets are what I ship and buy. I add a small amount of water in my bag and sometimes a small peice of plant to keep them a little busy in travel. The more air(oxygen) is better. They just need enough water to keep them wet. They do go to the top of the tank for air like bettas. I hope this helps with your shipping and receiving snails!

They all died because it got too cold in the tanks for them (but I have my bettas in a bowl with no heater). They don't eat tropical fish flakes but they will eat algae wafers though. Your betta should leave those alone. If you have a heater in your tank then go for it, if not I would advise against it.

I agree the tank is tiny I am use to my

55 gallon, had tropical fish for years never did the unheated thing before, so now I need to study up on that, right now with kids and all I can handle a 2 gallon.
I was thinking of the plecostomus but I only had then in the heated tank I was not sre if it would survive in the unheated water.
I not a big fan of snails, and I am also afraid my kids will like them to much and play with them or turn them loose outside with the "wild" ones they catch all the time or I will find them shoved into a "Bug Barn/House".
I will look into the sucker fish, the pet shop has a nice little one right now
